In a WAFB interview, family law attorney Yazan Rantisi and Judge Pamela Baker give valuable insight into navigating custody agreements during the governor’s stay-at-home order. According to the law, a parent who has shared custody does not have the right to leverage the governor’s stay-at-home order as a means to break the court’s established custody schedule.
However, temporary adjustments can be made if handled the proper way. Rantisi, of the Louisiana Family Law Firm, tells WAFB that his advice would be open communication and mutual agreement between both parents, regarding temporary adjustments. In cases where one parent does not agree with a temporary change, it would be best to contact an attorney before moving forward on their own.
